Armour Piercing is a bonus featured on some items (where it appears as Pierce), the amount indicated is the amount of Protection that is removed from the target during attacks.

The removal is additive, so in case of a character with Protection 20 being attacked with Armour Piercing 8, his effective Protection would be 12.
